Gilbert rejects appeal to stop go-kart adventure park

Outdoor go-karts are coming to Gilbert’s Crossroads Park, despite months of pushback from neighbors that culminated in an appeal to the Town Council.

However, the council added some requirements that aim to address residents’ concerns about noise.

Residents in Tuesday’s sweltering heat lined the walkway into the town hall building ahead of the meeting. They wore T-shirts saying “Preserve Crossroads Park” and held signs protesting Santan Adventure Park.

The residents had hoped the council would reverse the Planning Commission’s April approval of designs for the go-kart and miniature golf adventure park at the corner of Santan Village Parkway and Knox Road.

The Town Council upheld the commission’s decision, but sought to strike a compromise by adding stipulations such as a wall, trees and a noise study down the road.
