Neighbors, planners oppose Shea complex plan

A proposed apartment complex in Scottsdale’s Shea Corridor has generated opposition from neighboring businesses and the city Planning Commission.

The District at 9400 Shea project by Houston-based Kaplan Multifamily Partners would bring a 48-foot, 219-unit apartment complex to a vacant 3.9-acre lot south of the 94 Hundred Shea Corporate Center just east of 92nd Street and Shea Boulevard.

The developer is asking the city to rezone both the lot and the existing corporate center from commercial to a planned unit development, which would also require City Council approval of a minor general plan amendment because the land use would change to a mixed-use that can include residential alongside office and retail.
