New director of Arizona Department of Housing talks affordability, homelessness

Gov. Doug Ducey has appointed Tom Simplot to serve as director of the Arizona Department of Housing at a time when the feds have kicked in $508.4 million to address homelessness and housing instability in Arizona.

Simplot, who once led the Arizona Multihousing Association, succeeds Carol Ditmore, who is retiring from state service. Most recently, Simplot served as senior deputy chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts in Washington, D.C.
