ELOY — City Manager Harvey Krauss is retiring from the position after nearly eight years.

The announcement came during Monday’s City Council meeting. According to Mayor Micah Powell, he and Krauss had a conversation and both agreed that this was the best decision for Krauss personally so he is able to take better care of himself.

“He had been doing this for such a long time, and as we all know, we are not getting any younger, so it’s just one of those things where he needed to start taking care of himself,” Powell said. “He has done so much in the eight years that he has been with the city of Eloy, and that is what has really helped us go from one area to the other with his leadership.

For Powell, the news did not come as a shock, saying how Krauss had mentioned the idea of retirement in the past few months. Powell sees this move as a chance for the city manager to go out on top.
