The Glendale City Council could chart a new or revamped path for the City Hall complex at its Dec. 14 meeting.

Glendale’s City Hall was built in 1984 and has had a limited number of improvements since then.

City staff and council talked about the future of city hall in December 2020 with a focus on renovations and improving the building’s interior layouts.

System and infrastructure improvements would also be part of the potential modernization effort.

The council will hold a workshop on the future of the complex near Glendale Avenue, 59th Avenue and Grand Avenue in the downtown area.

A city official said the City Hall’s exterior architecture was an example of “brutalism” — a modern, sometimes bunker-like school of design.
