Electric vehicles, housing growth top Pinal stories for 2021

Pinal County’s role in the emerging electric vehicle industry became much better known during 2021 as Lucid Motors started shipping cars from Casa Grande.

Lucid has been hiring employees as fast as it can and gearing up for its next phase, a major addition to add an SUV line. Meanwhile, Nikola Corporation continued to develop its Coolidge plant, planning to manufacture electric and hydrogen trucks despite a federal investigation focusing on its founder and former CEO.

The EV industry was chosen by PinalCentral editors as the area’s top story for 2021.
