Surprise’s marijuana codes cleaned up

The city of Surprise cleaned up its books on regulating recreational and medicinal marijuana in the city.

Now, it’s just a waiting game on whether a dispensary will be coming to the city any time soon.

The Surprise City Council voted unamiously Jan. 18 to accept what Ellen Van Riper, a city attorney, called “kind of a cleanup” to the city code.

“It harmonizes our code, and I think it really sets up exactly what is and isn’t allowed in Surprise,” Van Riper told the City Council.
