TSA closing Sky Harbor checkpoints

The U.S. Transportation Security Administration has closed two security checkpoints at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport citing staffing shortages due to COVID-19.

The TSA is shuttering checkpoints B and D at Sky Harbor’s Terminal 4.

The move started this morning (Friday, Jan. 7). Two other checkpoints (A and C) remain open at the terminal.

The changes are not impacting TSA checkpoints in Terminal 3.

There has been a rise in COVID cases in Arizona and other U.S. states and TSA also requires employees — including checkpoint agents — to be vaccinated against the virus, per a federal mandate.
