CG council OKs new apartments; rules adjusted to avoid ‘cookie cutter’ home lots

CASA GRANDE — Five feet may not sound like much, but a small adjustment in zoning language could be the difference between visually dynamic neighborhoods and ones that have a more “cookie cutter” aesthetic.

During the City Council’s regular meeting on Monday, the council approved new language in zoning text for all residential zone districts to allow for 15-foot setbacks for side-load garages, front porches and living areas.

Previously, the rule was for a minimum setback of 20 feet.
