Anderson will not seek reelection to Florence Council

Veteran Florence Town Councilmember John Anderson will not be running for a third term. He made the announcement this morning.
Anderson, 82, was elected eight years ago. He said it was time to let other people on the council who could bring different ideas to the town.
“I’ve done about all I can do,” he said with a laugh. “It’s just my turn to let somebody else try to run the town now.”
Anderson was up for re-election this November, but his seat is now open. The councilmembers running for re-election this fall include Vice Mayor Michelle Cordes and Judy Hughes. According to interim Town Manager Lisa Garcia, Cordes and Hughes already have turned in the paperwork needed to begin collecting signatures to get onto the November ballot.
