The City Council approved $70,000 from reserves for the demolition, which includes hazardous material testing and abatement.

The car wash is located on just under a half-acre at the southeast corner of 85th Avenue and Washington Street.

Deputy City Manager Katie Gregory said it was built in 1979 and bought by the city in January of 2021.
It is expected to be demolished sometime between May 10 and May 18.

She said the requirement to demolish is based on what is likely to be reused on the site, and at this particular site, there really isn’t any reuse ability, and therefore it would actually be worth more as a vacant site.
