Surprise state of city party celebrates continued growth

It may not have been a party like it’s 1999, but the city of Surprise certainly knows how to party like its 2019.

Coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic, the city of Surprise is seeing explosive growth with housing and retail.

The city finally got to publicly celebrate that expansion March 31 at the city’s first State of the City event in three years after it had been delayed in person thanks to the coronavirus.

Mayor Skip Hall, who had to give addresses on the city’s accomplishments virtually the last two years, told a packed city council chambers crowd that the city is moving full steam ahead now that the virus is mostly behind us.
