How Scottsdale’s budget shaped up for the year

The Scottsdale City Council will hear good news when city Treasurer Sonia Andrews gives her review of last fiscal year’s budget during the council’s Dec. 5 meeting.

“The city’s finances are in good shape,” Andrews said. “We have managed the city’s finances very conservatively so by the end of the year we are in a strong financial position, retaining our AAA bond rating and retaining our strong reserves.”

Total assets are up 4% ($274.3 million) in fiscal year 2023, which ended on June 30, over the previous year. At the same time total liabilities are only up 2% ($28.1 million) in fiscal year 20223 over the previous year.
