Eloy approves contract for demolition of theater

ELOY — The Eloy City Council on Monday night awarded a contract for the demolition of Dust Bowl Theatre and the Veterans Center to Phoenix-based Danson Construction LLC.

In fiscal year 2022-23, an allocation of $200,000 was approved within the five-year Capital Improvement Plan for the demolition of the Dust Bowl Theatre, considered by many in the city to be an eyesore.

For that fiscal year, ongoing assessments of the project led to recommendation by city staff for the demolition of both the Dust Bowl Theatre and the Veterans Center due to the condition of both buildings.
