Commercial development planned at Signal Butte, Hampton in Mesa

By Richard Dyer | Your Valley

A permit for a sign plan has been approved for a vacant 15-acre parcel on the southwest corner of South Signal Butte and East Hampton roads in Mesa that is to be developed with commercial businesses.

The Mesa Board of Adjustment on Sept. 1 voted unanimously in a consent agenda with other items to approve a special-use permit for a comprehensive sign plan with a planned-area development overlay for the parcel, with Vice Chair Nicole Lynam and board member Ethel Hoffman absent.

The land is zoned limited commercial with a planned-area development overlay.

“It’s parcel A of Mountain Vista Marketplace, which was approved by council last year. It’s an 81-acre mixed-use development with residential uses, commercial — a variety of uses,” Staff Planner Evan Balmer said during a study session before the Sept. 1 board meeting.
