New deadlines proposed for Gilbert water park

The Gilbert Town Council will look at new changes and new deadlines for a long-planned water park.

The town council will consider new agreements related to the 25-acre water park at Gilbert Regional Park.

That includes adjusting the planned opening date from August 2022 to February 2024.

The town has also been adjusting lease agreements and other arrangements related to the water park because there is a new developer for the project.

Ladera Ranch, California-based Cactus Surf Park LLC has taken over the project from The Strand @ Gilbert LLC.

The council will be asked to approve new timetables for the project at its meeting tonight (Sept. 21).

The new deadline for construction to begin is June 30, 2022, according to council documents.

Gilbert Regional Park is located at Higley Road  and Queen Creek Road in the East Valley.
