Phoenix eyes RFP for small Sunnyslope parcel redevelopment

By Mike Sunnucks | Rose Law Group Reporter

The City of Phoenix is looking at selling a small parcel in Sunnyslope for infill residential redevelopment.

The property is located at 1121 West Ironwood Drive and totals just 0.23 acres (or 10,111 square feet).

Sunnyslope has seen a substantial rise in home values in recent years.

The city acquired the property from the State of Arizona in 2008 as part of blight abatement and to help bring about redevelopment of an infill home.

City officials want to issue a Requests for Proposals (RFP) for redeveloping the residential property. The RFP proposal is making its way through the Phoenix City Council.

The council’s Community and Cultural Investment Subcommittee will be briefed on the RFP idea at its Feb. 2 meeting.

“The use of an RFP will encourage interested developers to activate a vacant parcel within the already established neighborhood,” a summary of the council proposal reads.
