Bank’s proposed wind turbines would be a first in Chandler

By Ken Sain | The Arizonan

Bank of America wants to put three wind turbines on the parking garage of its West Chandler campus. City officials say they believe they will be the first wind turbines put to work for energy production in the city.

The proposal was approved by the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission earlier this month and now heads to the City Council for its blessing. A spokesperson for Bank of America in Arizona said they had no comment on this project.

These will not be the giant wind turbines with huge blades motorists might see driving through a mountain pass in California. They are compact, 7-feet, 5-inches in height, with only two vertical blades. As such, they will likely not be relied on to generate a lot of electricity.
