With electric vehicle companies like Nikola and Lucid having homes in Pinal County, the city of Eloy has staked its claim in the electric vehicle business by introducing a Tesla charging station.
The Tesla Supercharger opened April 10 and is connected to the Circle K located at 3125 N. Toltec Road.
At the site, 28 charging stalls allow Tesla owners to plug in their vehicles and receive 250 kilowatts of energy. According to Tesla Inc., a 15-minute charge can provide up to 200 miles of range.
At the City Council meeting last week, Councilmember Sara Curtis spoke about the charging station and how they could attract Tesla owners to visit Eloy and explore the city while they charge their vehicles.
“I happen to have a Tesla and have done long drives in it. I know that you have to charge and you stop where it is most convenient,” she said. “I think it is going to make that area nicer and bring more people in the future than we originally expected.”
