Thousands of homes planned west of downtown Florence

FLORENCE — Landowner Chris Dobson is preparing to apply for a Planned Unit Development of 3,062 homes, or an overall average of 4.6 per acre, on his 656 acres near the northwest corner of Plant and Adamsville roads.

Dobson said he hopes to attract families that can’t afford to live in the East Valley, and C.D. Farms may take a bit longer to develop because of market conditions. Julie Vermillion with CVL Consultants said development could span 10 years.

“I want to have affordable housing for families, and I want a nice product,” Dobson told about 20 people at a neighborhood meeting on Oct. 11. “…I’m here for the long run. You guys have something special here (in Florence). I believe in it, it’s great. I love to come down to downtown Florence.”

A recent letter to neighbors said C.D. Farms will be “interconnected neighborhoods unified by agrarian theming and character.”
