Glendale council mulls upgrades for Sierra Verde Park

Residents surveyed from Sierra Verde at Arrowhead Ranch and nearby areas of north Glendale meeting found proposed pickleball courts in their city park too close for comfort.

The city led a public meeting on park improvement plans with and without pickleball on July 9 in Foothills Branch Library, then offered the online survey July 9-16. Sierra Verde Park is at 21000 N. 71st Drive.

Seventeen of the 19 residents at the meeting voted for the plan without pickleball, while the online responses were 110 in favor of the option without pickleball and 87 for pickleball courts. The Glendale City Council agreed at its Sept. 10 work session, reacing a consensus to focus on the option with lighting and playground upgrades.
