San Tan Valley’s first town council could be appointed as soon as Sept. 17, according to action Wednesday by the Pinal County Board of Supervisors.
The board voted to have a two-week application period, including background checks, which will close at 5 p.m. on Sept. 11. The board will interview candidates at a special meeting on Sept. 15 and appoint the council at its regular meeting on Sept. 17.
Board Clerk Natasha Kennedy told the board she would post a public notice of the application process Wednesday.
In other business, the board also approved a step plan and pay structure for dispatchers. Sheriff Ross Teeple told the board he has 22 dispatcher positions and “we almost got below 50% staffing.” Two dispatchers tearfully submitted their resignations, saying they could go elsewhere in Pinal County and earn $12,000 more per year, Teeple said.
