Arizona homebuilder lobbies for guest workers

The partial federal government shutdown is over for now, so negotiations over immigration reform are back on.

Several Arizona delegations were in Washington, D.C., this week to lobby for or against plans to change U.S. immigration laws.

Andy Warren, CEO of Scottsdale-based Maracay Homes, lauds the Gang of Eight’s hard work for immigration reform, but he doesn’t believe current proposals go far enough to help the construction industry.

The current immigration proposal calls for 6,600 visas nationwide for construction guest workers during the first year, with a cap of 15,000 guest visas for construction workers in future years.
