Following the end of the city-hosted community meetings and discussions on billboards, Planning Director Chris Jacques described the information-gathering process and where things now stand.
Jacques said staff is still compiling results form the electronic surveys, which were available through the city’s website. In total, 1,396 survey results were received. Jacques said the results, at this point, do not appear to point to any strong conclusion for or against digital billboards.
During the Mesquite District meeting, attendees were vehemently opposed to any digital billboard placements, Jacques said. At other meetings, he said attendees had concerns; however, in general, felt that with the right restrictions, placement and separation from residential homes, digital billboards could be feasible in some areas along the Loop 101.
