The long-awaited Casa Grande recreation center took a major step forward when the City Council gave approval for preliminary design work Monday.
The council approved a $155,132 contract with Haydon Building Corporation to provide schematic designs. But it comes on the condition that the company hold various meetings with the community in order to get an idea of what the public wants in the center.
“This has gone on long enough,” Mayor Bob Jackson said about the rec center that was originally approved by voters in 2006. “We need to make sure there is a very strong public participation to it.”
