Frito-Lay, county settle tax dispute

An agreement between Pinal County and a major employer in Casa Grande will result in a lowered tax burden for the company.

Frito-Lay, with a large snack food plant in Casa Grande, appealed a decision from the Pinal County assessor to include many items under a business personal property classification, resulting in a higher tax obligation to the company. Frito-Lay appealed the decision, which was the company’s right under tax codes, and ultimately agreed on a settlement with the county.

County Manager Greg Stanley told PinalCentral the settlement “avoided prolonged litigation.”
