The city of Flagstaff will continue operating without a permanent city manager a little longer after the city council was forced to end its current search.
According to a Friday afternoon press release, the search for a new city manager had been going well, with the council receiving 106 letters of interest. Of those who applied, the council selected eight candidates for further consideration.
But after an initial phone screening with candidates, a number of them withdrew their applications for personal reasons, preventing the council from executing a competitive recruitment process, according to the release.
