Homebuilders picking up pace in Casa Grande

Anticipating the need for housing for a potentially larger workforce, homebuilders are gobbling up vacant lots and building in Casa Grande.

At the height of the housing boom around 2006, the city’s planning department was approving between 1,500 and 2,000 building permits for houses. This year the city’s on track to issue anywhere from 250 to 300 permits, an amount city Planning and Development Director Paul Tice says makes 2018 “a good year.”

Driving through town, it’s apparent that building is back and prices are up. Almost every major planned and plotted subdivision is experiencing some building, although a few remain untouched, save fencing around them to keep garbage dumpers out.
