The town of Gilbert is looking to hire an international consulting firm to look at intersection safety and potential pedestrian and traffic improvements in the restaurant heavy Heritage District.
The Gilbert Town Council is looking at hiring Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions Inc. to look at the safety and logistics of five intersections on Gilbert Road in the popular bar and restaurant area.
The Gilbert Council is scheduled to vote Thursday on awarding a contract totaling just over $199,780 for Wood to look at intersection safety, layouts and potential improvements.
Gilbert’s Heritage District is home to popular bars and restaurants such as Barrio Queen, Culinary Dropout, Oregano’s, O.H.S.O Brewery and Postino. The town is looking to bring in other uses to the popular area with a mixed-use development being built in a city owned parking lot on the north end of the Heritage area.
