Treatment center draws ire in Sun City

Emerald Isle Health and Recovery, 10702 W. Peoria Ave., opened early in the year, offering behavioral treatment to people with a variety of issues, according to company officials. But some Sun City residents are not pleased the facility is in the community and that they had no advance notice it was opening.

“With a drug rehab center across the street from Fairway Center, do we need to beef up security?” Sonya Dahl asked the Recreation Centers of Sun City board during its Sept. 14 meeting.

The RCSC board suggested she approach the issue with the Sun City Home Owners Association. However, SCHOA has no jurisdiction over commercial property.
