Medical marijuana rezoning case moves forward in East Valley

By Mike Sunnucks | Rose Law Group Reporter

Plans to move a medical marijuana dispensary to a new location in the East Valley took a step forward this week.

The Mesa Planning and Zoning Board voted 4-0 to approve rezoning of a commercial center on Baseline Road to allow for medical marijuana dispensaries to locate there.

The board approved changing the zoning for the center at West 535 Baseline Road to light industrial at the request of property owner PDE Investments LLC.  The current commercial zoning does not allow medical marijuana businesses at the center.

If the City Council approves, this could allow Kind Meds Inc. to move its dispensary operations from another Mesa location.

PDE contends the rezoning will help bring in other tenants to the center’s vacant spaces.
