Groundbreaking for La Quinta Inn ‘historic moment for Maricopa’

City and development officials break ground on the new La Quinta hotel in Maricopa / Howard Waggner / Pinal Central

A “historic moment for Maricopa” arrived with the groundbreaking for the first hotel in the city, La Quinta Inn.

Members of the city council, Mayor Christian Price, Rep. Bret Roberts, Sen. Vince Leach and members of the community celebrated the groundbreaking Friday morning. The first hotel will be located next to Copper Sky Recreation Center at 44345 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

“We’ve been longing for this day for what seems like forever,” Price said.

The hotel became a reality through partnering with Harrah’s and Ak-Chin Indian Community, as well as keeping a close relationship with the Arizona Department of Transportation.
