Opening pushed for La Quinta in Maricopa

The long-awaited opening of the first hotel to operate in Maricopa in 66 years will have to wait just a bit longer.

Originally slated to greet travelers at the end of March, the La Quinta Inn & Suites at Copper Sky is now looking at an opening date in late April or early May, according to its owner.

“COVID had a pretty large impact on the construction,” said hotel owner Andy Bhakta. “According to the general contractor, their materials did not show up in a timely matter. For example, the fire collars delayed us getting to the drywall and some of the subcontractors were affected by COVID.”
