Two city-owned airplane hangars are to be constructed on the east side of Greenfield Road south of McDowell Road at Falcon Field Airport in Mesa.
The landscaping and look of the hangars were discussed at the Feb. 14 meeting of the Mesa Design Review Board.
The all-volunteer Mesa Design Review Board is unique in that its composition is set by the zoning ordinance to include two architects; two from other design professions such as landscape architecture, engineering, urban planning, interior design or other design-related background; one contractor or developer; and two residents, according to the city’s website.
Mesa Hangar G is to be constructed on 5 acres and Mesa Hangar H on 7 acres.
“The site plan shows a 63,000-plus-square-foot building. It has five hangar bays in the building as well as accessory office space,” Staff Planner Charlotte Bridges said of Hangar G. “The east side of the building is the airfield side of the building so it’s the utilitarian side of the building. The parking access, dumpster … (are) on the west side of the building.”
