MARICOPA — The city council heard a long-awaited presentation at its most recent meeting, with Rocky Brown from Parks and Recreation unveiling some more final renders for the long-discussed fieldhouse project and asking the city council to decide on a final name for the project.
The facility, to be built at Copper Sky Regional Park to expand the city’s recreational offerings and access to both sports facilities and competitive sporting leagues, has been operating under the running name of the Copper Sky Fieldhouse, despite, in the words of Councilmember AnneMarie Knorr, not actually including any fields.
Instead, according to the presentation, the facility will include four full-sized indoor basketball courts, six full-sized indoor volleyball courts, 12 indoor pickleball courts, restrooms, flex space for rental, and more. The air conditioned space will be designed for year-round use and can be reconfigured in a variety of ways to accommodate what the community needs.
