Phoenix city manager to retire

By Mignon A. Gould | Phoenix Business Journal

Jeff Barton, the Phoenix city manager, has announced his retirement effective Nov. 14. Barton worked for the municipality for over 25 years, including the last four as city manager.

“One of the sharpest financial minds I know, he has helped navigate incredible challenges including the uncertainties of Covid-19 and ensured strong economic footing in a time of great change and opportunity,” Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego said in an Aug. 15 statement. “Jeff has delivered important investments for our city’s future, such as the voter-approved General Obligation Bond program that will bolster critical infrastructure, support public safety, and improve residents’ quality of life for generations to come. On behalf of the people of Phoenix, and as a friend, I offer my sincere thanks.”
